Argentia and the Ferry

Hello There!
I would have liked to add a few photos but it would have been a maze of white / grey.(fog).ARGENTIA IS SOCKED IN. Starting to clear now. For supper tonight We made fried potatoes and onions with pan fried Cod Fillets and salad/ cold slaw. What a way to end our journey on the ROCK. Forecast for tomorrow is favourable with the ferry arriving at 7.30 am.We will be able to see it from our campsite.Going to have to run Chase tomorrow and tire him out for the 14 hour trip to North Sydney. He will be fine in the trailer. Done it before in Alaska.Need to assemble at 1.30 pm. for our 3.30 pm. launch time.
So We are leaving this beautiful, unpredictable, rugged piece of ROCK with fond memories and the urge to go around the next bend to see what we can discover. This photo epitomizes what this whole journey was about, rugged beauty, crazy weather and bones, moose bones. Thank God we didn't hit one of those Critters.
I know when I arrive home the first thing I will complain about is the heat and HUMIDITY. They do not have this problem here. this has been a BLAST!

Cape Spear

Journeyed up to Cape Spear where we got instantly socked in with fog.One moment you were watching Whales and then nothing but a mass of white FOG. World War 11 Gun Emplacements werte impressive along with the oldest Lighthouse installation. plus we were at the most eastern point in North America. We have now travelled across this Great Nation of ours west to east along with Chase. What a DREAM come true.TRULLY ENJOYABLE. Heading to Argentia tomorrow and the FERRY to North Sydney on Saturday July 2.

Port de Grave

This morning we woke up to partial sunshine so off we went to Port de Grave to hike up to the Green Point Lighthouse and sat down and watched the whales and enjoyed the warm rays and beautiful breezes..
After working up an appetite we found a tiny restaurant called MOMS where we delighted ourselves with fish and chips.
St. John's tomorrow!

Brigus and Cupids

Travelling up the east side of the North Avalon Coast visiting Brigus and Cupids ,tiny littlle coves along the coastline. Awesome! Weather is getting better!

New Cemetary

Wow! a new innovation to bury our loved ones. While we were trekking along Trinity Bight I noticed this scene with all these blue and white bouys in this tiny bay. There seemed to be a small boat in the middle of the bay.
A fter further investigation we found out this is a ocean cemetary where you can drop off your loved ones into the ocean and have a small memorial service on the chapel boat. They drop to the bottom in a concrete vault and each bouy is identified. Blue for men ,white for women.
Since there is very little soil on the ROCK land burial is difficult and EXPENSIVE.You have to be a NEWFIE to appreciate this one!

Fort Point Hiking Trail

Decided to hike the lighthouse trail since it was clear and not raining.Mesmorizing scenery. Went to the tiny village of Trouty and found a home Bakery and purchased the hottest loaf of bread that we could. TO DIE FOR! Right out of the oven.

Off to Conception Harbour Tuesday to set up camp and visit the Avalon Peninsula and St. John's.
